Technical fouls are nothing new for Draymond Green, but on Saturday, the Golden State forward received one in an odd way.
Green appeared to have shoved Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell as he sprinted to the hoop during the third quarter of the game while teammate Caris LeVert attempted a layup. But nothing resulted from this.
Soon after, with the ball in his possession, Mitchell struck back, sprinting right for him. Then things started to become interesting. For a considerable amount of time, officials examined the situation in search of Mitchell’s flagrant foul. When they were finished, they declared that Mitchell would receive a common foul, but they also claimed that Mitchell’s response was sparked by Green’s prior uncalled foul.
Green, who had already gotten a technical in the second quarter, got his second technical of the night and was subsequently ejected.
